Supernatural Experience as Fulfillment (Erfüllung) of The Knowledge of God: Approaches from Edith Stein’s Work

Abstract

The article aims to comprehend the relationship that the human being maintains with God, based on the contributions that arise from the study of the notion of experience in the written works of Edith Stein. Through the textual interpretation of the most significant concepts within the Steinian corpus that are linked to experience, in the context of a historical-critical analysis, an ongoing dialogue between philosophy and theology is established, with the purpose of attaining a comprehensive vision of reality, derived from the contributions of both disciplines. Specifically, and drawing from Stein’s perspective regarding the experiential relationship that human beings maintain with the physical, social, and inner world, the study particularly embraces the phenomenological key of Erfüllung (fulfillment) to elucidate the distinct nature of the supernatural experience of God within the framework of the various paths of access to God in statu viae.
